Rove plays hooky

Karl Rove decided to skip the latest liberal photo-op being held by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and rightly so. Dems accuse him of hiding behind executive privilege, but there is a fair amount of precedent for refusing to testify on such grounds, with both Republican and Democrat administrations falling back on it in times of trouble.

The fact is Democrats foam at the mouth at any opportunity to put Rove on television in a compromising position. They have failed at every turn to let the public see him sweat, but their taste for blood did not go unquenched, as a 29-year-old White House aide did appear before Sen. Patrick Leahy's mob of pitchfork-wielding townsfolk, also known as the Judiciary Committee.

For all the talk about "getting to the bottom" of...something...the Dems don't seem to be making much headway. But true witch hunts never do. The list of conspirators will grow, as will the accusations, and before too long, we'll have forgotten how this whole thing started in the first place. Oh, wait, was it because Bush was reelected in 2004? Or does it have something to do with the Dems winning Congress in 2006? I can never tell.
