Blago Gets Booted

The Illinois State Senate voted unanimously today to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office after he was arrested by federal authorities for attempting to sell President Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat. He vows to continue his fight, but if he couldn't win it from the bully pulpit of the top elected office in the state, he likely won't have much of a shot as a private citizen.

Looking back now that this saga has essentially come to a close, the funniest part of the last week had to have been Blago's media charm offensive. He went on Today, The View, CBS and told the same story to all of them - that he couldn't get a fair trial. That of course was due in large part to the fact that he refused to show up at his trial.

So now Blago slips off the front pages and into annals (anals?) of history.
Bye now.
